My Child The Genius!

Emery was invited to a Birthday Party today for one of her classmates. I bought the girl a present and a card for Emery to sign. I decided to let Emery try and write her name herself, using only guiding dots like her game does on her Leap Pad. To my amazement, she did WONDERFUL!
I didn't help her write one letter! She did all of them all on her own!
After she got done writing on the envelope and signing her name on the card, she said she wanted to write more. So I went and found some paper and we started writing more!
Then came the ultimate test. I had to go check on Campbell in his crib, so I dotted out the last 3 letters in Reese's name, told Emery to do what she had been doing, and I would be right back. I didn't expect it to turn out as well as it did.
But she did wonderful! She is a genius! She wrote those letters all on her own with the dots to guide her and without me by her side guiding her. I am just so proud of her!
Yay Emery! We love you!

Stay at Home Vs. Working

So conversation has been going on around the house about me possibly staying home. Dave and I have roughly ran some numbers and found out that after daycare I don't bring home anything! LoL it's actually pretty pathetic how much I bring home a month, let alone a year. So, staying home with both the kids may be in my near future. It's kind of exciting though. We are going to have to get on a tight TIGHT budget, and stick to it. And there won't be a lot of fun in our near future, but I have been pretty good with the coupons as of lately ($12 for 2 movie tickets on groupon, WHAT?!). It will be worth it though I think, being able to stay home with my kids and teach them all I have learned at my current job. I'll miss my work kids, I know. But again, worth it.

Again this is all just talk, and may not even happen. But it might.

Dresser Space

We finally cleaned up Emery's dresser space and organized it. And it actually looks really cute! We will see how long it takes for it to get messy again.

New Years Resolutions-12 Books

So I have been working on some of my New Years resolutions. I wrote my Grandma Fialka a letter the other day and am going to write my other Grandma tonight.

I have also already read 2 books on my new Kindle my mom got me for Christmas.
The first book I read was 'A Stolen Life' by Jaycee Dugard. It was okay. I mean the story was really sad and everything that she went through was horrible, but it wasn't like an amazing read.
Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher was a good quick read. It's about a girl named Hannah who commits suicide. But before she does, she records 13 stories about 13 different people that made her make the choice to commit suicide. The book focuses on a boy named Clay who is listening to the tapes and is waiting to hear how he had a part in Hannahs life to make her do this. So like I said, good book, just a quick easy pleasure read.

I just got an e-mail today letting me know that another book is ready for me to download on my kindle from the library. So I am well on my way to reading 12 books this year.

Ham Delight Sliders

That's right people. I made these bad boys. And let me tell you, they were SO GOOD! Even the next day when I took some leftovers to work. Yum. Of course I got the recipe from pinterest, but I tweeked it just a little bit. Instead of using the buns they ask for, we used multi-grain sandwich thins and Reduced Fat swiss cheese. Here is the full recipe. Enjoy!

Ham Delight Sliders
24 Kings Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
24 pieces good honey ham
24 small slices Swiss cheese
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup light mayonnaise
Poppy seed sauce
1 T poppyseeds
1 1/2 T yellow mustard
1 stick butter, melted
1 T minced onion
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise and miracle whip. Spread onto both sides of the center of each roll. Place a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss inside of each roll. Close rolls and place them into a large baking dish or heavy cookie sheet. Place very close together.

In a medium bowl, whisk together all of the poppy seed sauce ingredients. Pour evenly over all of the sandwiches. Let sit 10 minutes or until butter sets slightly. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until cheese is melted. Uncover and cook for 2 additional minutes. Serve warm

Light Posting

Sorry all for the light postings lately. Things have been so hectic around the house, especially at night when  I do most my blogging. I do have a ton of pictures to put on here though so just bear with me and wait till possibly Friday night or Saturday. Hopefully I'll have a few new posts by then.
